The evening air was light a breezy. The clouds that were carrying an overnight storm darkened the land. At the end of the street, our brother and some neighbors were playing basketball. Sarah performed cartwheels and hand-stands in the front yard. The wind blew through her hair. She wandered to our dad's truck, then to the backyard. She couldn't stay serious for more than five minutes. Every time I put my camera down, her serious and almost fearless exterior would break.
She let me follow her and tell her how to pose. After I was done posing her, we went to the end of the street, where the kids were playing basketball. She didn't get to join in on their game, but she was happy to just play with an extra basketball, throwing it into the yard, and then retrieving it.
I took pictures until it was too dark to take any more.
